What causes the appearance of etching on my dishes?
Etching can be caused by using too much detergent or by soft water, either of which can produce a film that cannot be removed. To help prevent this:
- Adjust the amount of detergent you use based on the hardness or softness of your water.
- Lower your water temperature, but be sure to keep it above the minimum recommended temperature of 120°F.
Reminder: The temperature of water entering your dishwasher may drop considerably in the winter, depending on where your plumbing runs in relation to the outside walls of your home. Check to see that your water temperature can reach at least 120°F (49°C).
