Kitchen Appliances - Refrigeration
If my Refrigerator’s compressor isn’t running, what should I do?
If the compressor isn’t running, it might simply be because your Refrigerator is in defrost mode. This is normal and can last up to 30 minutes.
You can also check the following:
- Be sure that your cooling system is turned on.
- Be sure your Refrigerator’s power cord is securly plugged into the outlet. Also, it is recommended that you not plug your Refrigerator into a GFCI outlet (an outlet that has a “TEST” and “RESET” button).
- Consider replacing your circuit or fuse with a 15-amp time-delay fuse. A time-delay fuse accepts a momentary overload (as when the compressor cycle is on) for a short period of time without blowing.
- You may want to reset your circuit breaker.
